I spent last week at our Xining Children’s Home in Qinghai Province, and I felt I must introduce you immediately to a very special lady. Madam Li Yonglian was the Administrator when Christian Action was invited to co-manage the home in 1998. Since then she has won many Awards, including the Civil Affairs Bureau’s Outstanding Worker Award 2001 and the China Worker’s Association’s Outstanding Administrator Award 2007. After working with Madam Li for 11 years I know that if there was an Outstanding Mother Award, she would have won that too!
A smiling Abigail (Hu Yang 胡楊) flanked by the two police officers who brought her to Xining Children's Home after she had been abandoned. The officers were clearly smitten by Hu Yang, as they brought gifts to her at the home every year until she was adopted in 2003. This photo was taken when Hu Yang visited the Home in July, 2007.The wedding picture of Zhong Linjun (蓮君) a couple of weeks ago made many of you happy - especially Kim and Steve Anderson in the USA, who adopted a teenager from Xining in 2003. When they came to collect 14-year-old Hu Yang (胡楊), they were sad because they couldn't also take Linjun home with them. They were thrilled to see her picture here - happily married!
It was a very full and interesting week last week. For the whole week I was at a major Christian conference with delegates from over 100 nations. It gave me the opportunity to hand out about 450 of our brochures.
As a supporter of our Home, you too can celebrate the wedding of Zhong Linjun (蓮君)! She is the first orphan from our Home to get married!
