A Packet Full of Blessings

When I was growing up in Malaysia, family get-togethers during Chinese New Year were filled with joy, especially when our parents and relatives gave us little red packets to express their love and blessing. This tradition inspired us to create our Red Packet for Every Home campaign. It invites everyone, especially children, to share their red packets with those brothers and sisters in Hong Kong and Qinghai who are less fortunate.

The Year of Hope

It will be Chinese New Year in a few days! Apart from the delicious food, I always look forward to our family gatherings. There are always fantastic stories to be shared by relatives and friends. What piques my interest most is how they look forward to the coming year. Hope is the essence of the festivities!

Hope encourages us to be positive about the new things that are yet to happen. Hope includes the knowledge that despite the adversities, we still persevere. At this festive time, I have some good news for you:

Fighting for Human Dignity

Christian Action is one of many organisations which give hope to those who are neglected. I am grateful that many organisations have recognised our efforts and have partnered with us. One of the oganisations is Mission21 of Switzerland, who send us passionate people to work in our Centre for Migrant Domestic Workers (CMDW).

An Outstanding Young Person

At our annual Christmas Party, we celebrate with all our colleagues and acknowledge those who have worked with us for a long time. This year, a particular recipient of a long service award was Jeffrey Andrews. Jeff has worked with CA for a decade! It has been a pleasure to see Jeff's fantastic journey from being a troubled youth to now being a community leader in Hong Kong. He always champions the needs of our refugees, asylum seekers, and ethnic minorities.
