A Surgeon in the Making

Tam Kwong Ho, a graduate of the seventh batch of On Tai Service Centre’s Child Development Fund (CDF). From a young age, his parents instilled in him a deep appreciation for education. He is a model student with a burning passion to become a doctor. Throughout secondary school, he immersed himself completely in his studies—so committed that his bookshelves are lined not with comic books, but with volumes on anatomy, physiology, and human biology.
There were times when Kwong Ho felt confused about his journey of exploration and learning. Fortunately, Kwong Ho learnt to set various short-term goals for himself and gradually achieved them thanks to the encouragement and support from Christian Action, his family, and his mentor. His assigned mentor, Dicky Wong, a devoted social worker at On Tai, recommends Kwong Ho apply for the CASE Scholarship. His mentor motivated him to diligently strive for the necessary outcomes to secure his university admission.
The fabulous news in Kwong Ho’s result is that he achieved an astounding 33 points (taking the best five subjects’ score out of seven, which means a maximum of 35 points) in the 2024-25 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE). His score has earned him a place in the University of Hong Kong’s MBBS programme (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)!
On 30 April 2025, Christian Action held a presentation ceremony to honour Kwong Ho and 18 equally exceptional students from across all of our four service centres. The students’ parents, teachers, and mentors recognised the students for their spectacular achievements and celebrated with us the awarding of a Christian Action Scholarship for Excellence (CASE) to each of them!
CASE scholarships are designed to help our best and brightest students with the next stage of their educational journey and are funded by donors like you.
Congratulations to all our graduates, volunteers and mentors, and thank you!
