What do you get when you cross a team of Disney VoluntEARS and our Mong Kok Centre’s Food Assistance Programme? That’s the question that was going through the VoluntEARS mind’s when they arrived, all ready to help a few months ago.
Food insecurity among Hong Kong’s low-income households is an ever-present challenge. Our Food Assistance Program in our Mong Kok Service Centre was specifically set up to help families and elderly resident’s in the area - and it is through volunteers that the greatest impact is made.
Hauling rice sacks, stacking oil cans and tying bundles of noodles is a glamorless and labor intensive exercise, but it is exactly what the Disney VoluntEARS did! The goal was to create food packages for our low‑income service users and they did so with enthusiasm!
The most memorable portion of the day for the VoluntEARS came when they met the service users and distributed the food packages. The children were drawn to their T‑shirts and eager to learn more about the Park, while adults expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ kindness in taking time to serve them.
When the team members came together at MKC to bundle and pack food provisions, they came with hearts that were open to serving their fellow members of Hong Kong’s community. And when they left they all spoke of a sense of personal fulfillment.
For the children, food means being able to concentrate in school, grow strong and healthy, and feel cared for in a world that often overlooks them. This simple act of packing forty food bundles became a powerful reminder that hope can be delivered through community love and care.
Christian Action sincerely thanks Hong Kong Disneyland for its generous support of our Food Assistance Programme. This partnership has helped us bring hope and nourishment to families in need.
I invite your company to join us in this meaningful mission. By sponsoring MKC’s Food Assistance Programme and volunteering alongside us, you can make a direct impact—ensuring that vulnerable children and families receive proper meals and feel cared for.
