"My Country"

When the first child from Xining Children's Home was adopted internationally in 2001, we had our first celebration! To date, 161 children have joined their forever families overseas. A total of only four children have been adopted by Swedish families, all of them in 2004.

This summer, those four precious girls and their families came back to visit us. While they waited in the lobby of Xining Children's Home, they were thrilled to see the display of a world map, with photographs of each of the four girls in Sweden! It was great for them to see this heart-warming indication that they had not been forgotten.

From Grassroots boy to Iron Man

On November 3rd Mike Chan will participate in the 'BMW Destination X Ironman 70.3' International Invitation in Taiwan. The triathlon will include a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run, and is likely to take up to seven hours to complete! Mike says he's been training for this for four years, but the truth is that his entire life has been an unofficial marathon.

Soul in a Metropolis

I am always amazed at how a few simple ideas, offered with compassion, can turn into something extraordinary. A small group of volunteers from Turner Broadcasting recently gave their time and talents to teach refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong about photography. They had no idea that they would make such an impact!

One People, One City

It's a lonely life if you're a woman living in a foreign country, unable to work, and without extended family members. That's the plight of many South Asian stay-at-home women in Hong Kong who follow the traditions of their mothers and grandmothers. These women are often housebound, lonely, bored and depressed.

Where there's a need in our community, we try to find a solution. The result of Christian Action's efforts to find a solution is proving to be a wonderful success.

October 7th is Kick-Off Day!

It started small, but last year's Charity Football Tournament is now gearing up for our upcoming bigger, better tournament, once again aimed at raising funds for refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong.  This year our team proudly bears the name United Colours of Christian Action, or team UCCA.
