Let's Climb!

We began hosting a community event on July 22, sponsored by Kwun Tong District Council.

We wanted to bring families together to climb a wall at our place - New Horizons Building! There's a lot to gain by putting down all the electronic devices and enjoying a challenging time with the whole family.

Wall climbing is not only a complete body workout but is also an exercise that builds coordination, balance, confidence, and problem solving. It was so exciting to know that so many people will get to experience this empowering activity by simply climbing a wall.

Apart from all those benefits, it brings children and families together. Over 6,000 people have climbed our wall since it was erected in 2005. That was our bottom line aim – to bring the community together. What's more, climbers were sponsored.

Over these weeks, there will be two family classes serving 40 people, as well as three children-only classes serving 45 children. All of them will learn climbing skills and at the same time help to build healthy bodies and healthy family and community relationships.

One mother, Corsina, was very impressed by these activities. She said, "It's usually the Dads who handle the difficult parts of outdoor activities with their children. But in this wall-climbing class, the Moms got to show off their exceptional climbing skills - they looked just like female Spidermen! Nothing was going to stop those ladies from demonstrating their energy and charm even on the wall."

We encourage all of you to continue making our voice heard so that we may keep this building and continue to be a blessing to our neighbors in Kowloon.
