She can hear!

Huge news! A  deaf little three-year-old girl, abandoned on the grounds of our orphanage in Xining can now hear! Music, birds, conversation... she is now in a new and wonderful world of opportunity. One that I have always taken from granted, and probably will continue to. Yet, I am still in shock and grinning from ear-to-ear one-week after watching Xiao Shan's reactions to hearing for the first time...

Heroes

The Chinese Christian Church of Milsons Point, Sydney, Australia is made up of heroes -  but they would probably tell you the real heroes are the children and foster parents pictured above. Each smiling adult is a native of Xining city, Qinghai province,  and is a foster parent to one or more of our children.  Fostering  children,  let alone handicapped children in a remote province like Qinghai, is a daily struggle. Yet for five years this Australian Church has done their all to make it just a little easier.

"Will you save all the poor, even if they are very sick?"

Hi again!

Last week I told you about an abandoned, 15-days-old baby who was dying.  When we were contacted about the baby, we learned that the authorities knew who the parents were. This meant we needed authorization from the parents in order to help the baby, but despite much effort, they couldn’t be located.  Lydia, a CA staff member, pleaded with us to pray.  The next day, her first phone call found the father, Yuen, who agreed to travel 12 hours to meet us!

Help for Millions

I am a member of Qinghai's exclusive Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, so it gives me a platform to submit policy proposals to the government. As a result of one of my proposals, millions of herdsmen and farmers are now spared from having to consider abandoning an ailing child due to financial hardships.Good morning!

Xiao Shan’s operation is a success ! Her bionic ear is now in place!

Professor Charles Andrew van Hasselt, Chairman of Hear Talk Foundation, and Professor Michael Tong, the Honorary Secretary of Hear Talk Foundation, carried out the surgery.
