Another Butterfly Flourishes

Leah and her adopted parents, Aron and Jenn, have always been in my prayers. We visited them in Washington DC in 2018, and recently received an update from Jenn.

After leaving our Xining Children’s Home in 2010, Leah has continued to thrive. She is a straight-A student in her seventh-grade class.

A Witness of Faith

Mr. Anthony Bux, a Kwun Tong District Councillor and elected member, has announced that he will resign in June so that he can focus on combating a serious illness.

When we received the news about his health, our staff and I were deeply saddened and very worried. Anthony has been a long-term friend of Christian Action, and for six years he has been passionate about serving the community. I vividly remember the beginning of our journey. It began with the fight to retain the site of our former headquarters at Kai Tak Open Camp. Anthony later became one of our companions in a year-long negotiation with the government about the site of our new headquarters at Choi Wan.

New Beginnings!

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

After moving our headquarters to Choi Wan, we hoped to offer digital learning to the underprivileged. Unfortunately, the pandemic, lack of funding and appropriate partners hampered the development of that project. But as we know, God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform!

In August 2020, Christian Action invited Rev. Peter Ho, Co-Founder of Evangelical Free Church of China (EFCC) Tung Fook Church, and his wife Shirley Loo, to join a tour of our Choi Wan headquarters. The tour was led by the Project IC of Digital Learning Centre, Albert Lee. When they were leaving, Shirley asked whether we had any prayer requests. Albert told her of the need for our Digital Learning Centre.

Walking through the Storm

For the 8th consecutive year, our 3-Legged Charity Walk, in partnership with its title sponsor, HKBH Ambulatory Medical Centre, and in association with The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, was finally completed with fundraising results exceeding our expectations!

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the walk was extra special this year because there was an astonishing number of participants - 600 people supported the virtual walk in their own way, in order to raise money for the underprivileged families in Hong Kong, as well as the orphans and disabled children from Qinghai. Their enthusiasm showed us that love drives out fear. It also led us walking through the storm, and went far beyond physical boundaries.
