Our 30th Anniversary Celebration

We are indeed grateful for the generous support of our donors and stakeholders over the past 30 glorious years of work for the needy. We celebrated this milestone and held our 30th anniversary Celebration Ceremony in Wong Tai Sin district on 26th September to share the fruit reaped throughout these decades. Before the event, unexpected and heavy rain suddenly fell and brought flooding in that area. Even though the road was blocked, it could not deter our VIP partners and guests from attending the ceremony as they made every effort to come from a different route. I am grateful for their staunch support and participation that made this event a memorable occasion. A warm thanks to our service users from our foreign domestic helpers, new arrivals and refugee programmes who graced our stage and stared in the photo exhibition and our anniversary video.

The Welfare Trap

'Economic migrants' is sometimes used as a derogatory term for those who go to another country simply to earn more money. But for people like Ms. Lee who dream of giving children a better education and improving the quality of life for the family, leaving home is often a heartbreaking but necessary choice.

Do unto others...

Many years ago one of our children in Xining Children's Home was adopted. Her name is now Binjie Turner.  When Binjie heard that we are raising funds to support our Bridging programme for youths who have to move from Xining Children's Home to the Xining Social Welfare Institute, she wrote us the following letter...
