Perfect Timing

Walking, running, jumping, dancing... just the type of activity I would expect from a lively fifteen- year-old. But what do you do when that lively child is suddenly struck by pain so debilitating, she cannot even attend school?

Recovering well after her surgery

Dong is the name of that lively girl who was an active participant at school, who performed well academically, and engaged with her classmates socially. When her hip became so painful she could barely walk, she stopped going to school altogether.  She missed her final exams for the 2014/2015 academic year.  Afraid of ridicule Dong became socially withdrawn.

Medical investigation finally revealed hip dysplasia. She was born with the condition, which usually manifests 10 years later, but in Dong’s case started causing problems when she was 15.

While this drama was unfolding in Dong’s life, God was preparing a solution. Christian Action’s long time friend, Dr. Liu, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, contacted us with the information that Matilda Children’s Foundation regularly helps children with disabilities. The timing was perfect!

On August 11th, less than a month from the time her hip had started to give her trouble, Dong arrived in Hong Kong for surgery.  She was accompanied by the director of Hainan Children's Home, Mm. Zhou Ji.  The next day she checked into Matilda International Hospital, and had surgery on August 14th. Four days later Dong left the hospital with a steel bolt in her hip. Her recovery from surgery has been truly miraculous.  Dr. Liu assures her that she will return to normal physical activity!

I am so grateful - not only for her miraculously quick recovery, but that God consistently supplies solutions for our children. Your prayers and financial support are frequently what usher in those solutions! Thank you!
