The Hong Kong Dream

'The Hong Kong Dream' is what attracts many mainland Chinese who move their families here. Joining a spouse who came here first is not just a reuniting of families, but a step towards success. The children will have better access to education and healthcare, and life is bound to improve. That's the dream. Sometimes that dream quickly becomes a nightmare...

The pace of life in Hong Kong is very fast. The demands on the individual are very high. The cost of living is extremely high. When the education and skills of mainland Chinese are not recognized by Hong Kong's workforce, disaster strikes. Marriages break down.  Wives are abandoned. Suddenly single, mothers are unable to feed their children. That is why Christian Action is so grateful to Edrington Co. Ltd.

In 2014 we set up the Fresh Food Programme in partnership with Edrington Co. Ltd, and distributed fresh food to around 60 families a month. We ensured that the children received a healthy balanced diet.  For mothers whose greatest desire is for their children to get an education, the addition of fresh vegetables and fruit for the development of growing minds was and is a high priority. The result is the opportunity to break out of the poverty cycle.

Grateful mothers have written:

I'm thankful for the food from your company. I can feel your care through the donation and it has made my life easier.

Your donation is a great help to me. It helped me to meet my urgent needs and ease my financial burden. Thank you very much.

Thank you for the fresh food every month. We are a grassroots family, and the food you provide means a lot to us.

Because of Edrington Co. Ltd and all our other supporters, Christian Action is making a difference in people's lives where it really matters! Thank you and please continue to stand with us as you help make a difference in the lives of many families.
