Where Does My Help Come From?

"This relieved the stress of tutoring my daughter and answered my questions about secondary education. My daughter eagerly anticipated every tutorial. Her happiness is my happiness too."

Mrs Yip, On Tai Estates resident

Picture, if you can, a young girl confined to a minuscule, overcrowded apartment in the new On Tai public housing estate in Kwun Tong. She is desperate to break free and move ahead. To learn and to grow. But family finances prevent it. Where does her help come from?

Now picture, if you can, her mother. Yes, money is tight, but her greatest agony and heartache comes from her inability to help her daughter complete her homework, get ahead at school and thereby break free from poverty. All because she too, is largely uneducated. Where does her help come from?

Back By Popular Demand - the Magnificent Mooncake!

‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ – Acts 20:35

The Miracle of Teamwork

History is replete with stories of people who have met their demise after falling on hard times. The privilege of our work however, is that we bring together a team of caring and like-minded organizations and individuals so that today’s needy don’t have to be left behind.

What made the event unusual is that the adults and children were all Christian Action volunteers and it was the first time we were allowed to hold a fundraising ‘Flag Day’ since COVID struck two years ago!

News Flash - Our Mong Kok Centre students Ace the DSE!

The results are in and I am bursting with pride for our Mong Kok Centre students who sat for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE)!

This year we had six students who sat for their DSE, but in many ways they had already passed before they even sat the exams. During the exam preparation period the fifth wave of the pandemic was at its peak. This meant that all the schools, libraries and parks were closed, and since these students came from low-income families, they were all confined to their unimaginably cramped, shoe-box sized sub-divided apartments. The fact that these six could maintain a positive attitude and persevere with their studies is truly incredible!
